March 19 celebrates the life of Joseph, Mary’s husband and earthly father to Jesus Christ. While it is not a holy day of obligation for Catholics in the United States, it is still important to celebrate Saint Joseph and his role in Jesus’ life.
We celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on March 17. St. Patrick, the Patron saint of Ireland, brought Christianity to Ireland.
It is believed he was born in Roman Britain (what is now Britain under Roman rule) to a deacon father. He was kidnapped at 16 and made a slave to Gaelic Ireland for six years and found God in this time. He escaped back home, became a priest, returned to Ireland with Christianity.

We will attend Mass at Our Lady of Hope as a school, and reflect on Christ’s life during Lent, focusing on His own ultimate triumph over temptation. Lent ends with the celebration of Easter, marking Jesus’ resurrection.
Dedicating fifty years to a career is impressive. But committing fifty years to Catholic education is an achievement worthy of special recognition. St. Monica teacher Mrs. Sarah Avitalle was honored this past Friday during a Mass celebrating teachers who have reached milestones in their careers. Mrs. Avitalle began teaching in Philadelphia 50 years ago at the age of 18.
Starting on one career path doesn’t always mean you won’t veer off into a new path all together. Two teachers at Bishop McDevitt High School, Dr. Dorothy Burdziak and Michael Newns, can attest to this. Both started out with different career paths, but found themselves drawn to teaching.
Catholic Schools Week in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia was yet again another success! The Archdiocese is made up of 119 elementary, 17 secondary and four schools of special education across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, and each school celebrated in their own way.
Pope Francis named Nelson J. Perez as the new archbishop of Philadelphia. He will replace Charles Chaput. Our Lady of Hope would like to welcome Archbishop Perez to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia! Learn more about newly appointed Archbishop Perez

Catholic Schools Week is well underway at Our Lady of Hope. In celebration of our teachers who have dedicated years (25 years and 50 years) of their life to Catholic education, Bishop Michael J. Fitzgerald will lead a celebration Mass for these teachers hitting these milestones.

For years, educators, politicians, school administrators and more have pondered what is the secret to success in schools that carries on throughout life. Kathleen Porter-Magee, the superintendent at Partnership Schools in New York City, determined that the “secret sauce” for Catholic schools is the way Catholic values are woven into the curriculum within Catholic schools. Let’s take a closer look at how this claim might ring true...
